![]() Those who pre-order will be given early access to the open beta, first on PlayStation. Modern Warfare 2 arrives October 28 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. More multiplayer details, and of course footage, will arrive in due course. If you're after even more Modern Warfare 2, tune in tomorrow, June 9, for Summer Game Fest's opening show, where we expect to see a longer playthrough of a campaign mission. You can also expect plenty of free post-launch content featuring new maps, modes, and special events. The slide mechanic also returns and features an additional movement allowing you to dive to the ground. The ping system will return, and this time out features more communication options. Other things to note are larger lobby modes which feature from up to 64 players to 6v6. In both modes, if all of your teammates are eliminated, you lose the round. The former is a round-based mode, and the latter has you either rescuing prisoners or keeping them from being taken. When it comes to modes, there will be at least two new ones: Knockout and Prisoner Rescue. One such piece of equipment is a decoy, and when inflated, mimics a soldier swimming with their gun drawn. While weapons will experience drag, especially bullets, equipment new to the series will adjust when used in water. Speaking of the water, IGN's preview says to expect both new and updated water physics, and the ability to use your knives and pistols underwater. With Modern Warfare 2, you can expect enhanced rendering, photogrammetry technology, and some rather swish-looking water segments, which the reveal trailer teased. In August, Microsoft announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was now backwards compatible on Xbox One and that announcement was one of our most popular tweets ever, as the love for MW2 seems to still be strong. After it drills a hole into the target, you can toss a grenade into the opening. There's also a Drill Charge that you toss on a wall or vehicle. Another piece of equipment is a DDoS device (thanks, IGN) which releases an EMP charge to stall enemy equipment and vehicles. After you update, the total install size for Modern Warfare will be slightly larger, and that of Warzone will be a bit smaller.New gadgets will be available, including a field cam which you can remotely operate to see if there are enemies nearby. You'll need plenty of free storage space to install it, however: it'll measure between 22-36 GB, depending on whether you have Modern Warfare installed or just Warzone, with a secondary download of about 3.5 GB for console players. ![]() It'll go live tonight at 11 PM PT (2 AM ET). The update will arrive just a couple of weeks after Season Four started. You'll find more bundles in the store as well, including new operator Roze. The latter's a spin on Capture the Flag, in which flag carriers earn points while they hold onto the objective. There's a fresh multiplayer map, Cheshire Park, and the return of an old Call of Duty game mode, Team Defender. Modern Warfare players will have some other goodies to check out. ![]() There's also a new sniper rifle, the Rytec AMR, which you can unlock through an in-game challenge or a blueprint in the store. It's not quite clear how long you and your cohorts will be able to square off against 196 other players in the battle royale, but an image on the PlayStation Blog notes that it's a limited-time mode.Īmong the other updates that are on the way as part of Season Four Reloaded are Supply Run Contracts, through which you'll get discounts on your next purchase if you're the first team to reach a Buy Station, and a spotter scope to help you pinpoint your enemies. The max player count is expanding from 150 to 200 later today. Your quads matches in Call of Duty: Warzone are about to get a little more intense.
